All check boxes are checked in front end
September 06, 2007, 08:04:27 am
I have a some regular check boxes for custom data that I am using in a profile.
When I preview in the backend (of joomla) they look correct--nothing is checked.
But when I use a front end edit link the boxes are all checked.

Changing to radio buttons "solved" this.

I was not able to replicate this on http://demo.civicrm.org/joomla. Can you check if you have set defaults for checkboxes ?

No defaults set. That was one thing I tried when I had the problem, and it made no difference.

I can confirm that I experienced the same thing. No defaults, but when you open the form on the front end, single fields with multiple check box options are all checked. I need the user to select multiple options, so switching to radio buttons is not a viable solution.

Doesn't affect functionality. It's just a pain to have all those fields defaulting to a checked state.

I'll try to reproduce in the demo later today.

Brian / Elin - Can you confirm which version of Joomla you're having the problem with. I just also looked at a custom checkbox field in a profile on our 1.x Joomla demo - and it works properly:

I'm using 1.0.13
The issue appears sporadically. I have one field set that is not doing it now, another that is.

What's the login for the Joomla demo? demo/demo doesn't work. I'll go in and see if I can recreate it.

Brian - we don't expose the backend of the Joomla demo in general since it gives too much access :-(. I'm sending u a temporary login in a Personal Msg - so you can try and recreate the problem.

Ok, I played with the demo, but couldn't recreate the problem. However, I think that's because there's something messed up with that installation of CiviCRM and CiviEvent on the demo. CiviEvent shows up on the CiviCRM sidebar menu, but it isn't in the component submenu. And when I go to create a front end page for the event, event listings are not one of the options available for the menu item parameter (only profile and contribute pages).

And I'm getting other errors on the event test drive page:
http://demo.civicrm.org/joomla/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/event/register&reset=1&action=preview&id=4

(That's on the admin side, you will need to login to the backend to see it).

I did some more testing on my own site where this issue had appeared. Very strange -- if you're logged into the front end, and visit the event page, the bug occurs (all the check boxes are checked). But if you are NOT logged in (it's a public access event), the check boxes are NOT checked.

Dave, if you want, I'll send you a personal message with links and a user login to check out the site. I say that with some hesitation, because I fear you'll go there and find it was something so incredibly obvious that it's embarassing. But let me know.
