UpdateMembershipRecords.php opens File Save dialogue box instead of executing

I have just upgraded to Drupal Civicrm 3.1.2 and when I try to run UpdateMembershipRecords.php in FF on Mac OS X it opens a file save dialogue box instead of executing the script.  Does anyone know what might be the cause?

does user has sufficient executable permissions for file ?
( permissions might be 755 )

The permissions were 744 but they have been changed to 777 and surprisingly I am still getting the same error.  If I try to run the script without the key parameter I get an error stating that the key parameter is missing.  So it seems that the script is starting up.  I have changed the key in the settings file and then changed the URL but I am still getting the same issue.

It should work but I am clearly missing something simple.

This is regression bug.

fix would be part of next stable release ( v3.1.4 )
