I have spent some time creating and uploading some documentation on the installation and configuration of CiviCRM on Microsoft IIS.

I am requesting that users of the documentation space not edit the content until it is complete. Please could you inform me under this topic with regards to questions, errors and suggestions on the documentation.

I would also be willing to help with some technical queries, however time on this is restricted due to the time spent on the documentation.

Thanks for putting this together.

There is an issue in getting the scripts for CiviCRM to run periodically that is due to the directory name - http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-7404. You might want to develop and document a work-around.

Are you interested in working on getting CiviCRM so that it can be deployed on Azure? If so, let me know as Microsoft has indicated to me they might be able to make some money available to support this.

There were loads of issues configuring CiviCRM/Drupal to run properly on IIS, and I tried my best to debug, fix and document. Shortly after I posted the docs, we moved onto Linux (for the sole reason of running our own mail server) and finding (almost) everything worked out of the box. (That is after I taught myself Linux)

However, since I am likely to look at IIS at some point in future I will be sure to continue with the docs...

About the directory name issue, I never had a problem with executing a scheduled task (cron-like) for wget-ting the CiviMail stuff. (odd!) It seems OTT for MS to allow/deny the directory on a server-wide basis impacting quite a lot of applications, I would think. (does this also apply to IIS7?)

Azure looks like a promising technology and CiviCRM would have a larger audience if deployed there.
