user error: Smarty error: [in CRM/common/dashboard.tpl line 54]: [plugin] unknown tag - 'crmKey' (core.load_plugins.php, line 118) in ~/sites/all/modules/civicrm/packages/Smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1093.

The CiviCRM Dashboard page is blank except for the print icon in the upper left corner. Upon returning to the site after visiting the Dashboard page, the above error message is displayed. This seems to be a templating issue, but troubleshooting this is beyond my ability. Any thoughts about how this issue can be sorted out?

Hey,

Can you check if CRM/Core/Smarty/plugins/function.crmKey.php file exists? If not, something went wrong with your installation and it's missing necessary files.

Thx,
m

Also try clearing you templates_c folder.

I looked at my installation and indeed it did not have that file. But then I downloaded a new copy of civicrm-3.1.1-drupal.tar.gz, expanded the archive on my desktop, and found that this archive didn't have that file either. Was it ever there?

This appears to have fixed the problem. Thank you!

FWIW: It was introduced in CiviCRM 3.1.6.
