Batch update via profile not working for Participants (Role) with Radio Buttons
September 04, 2010, 05:47:40 am
I have replicated this issue on sandbox. It also looks somewhat similar to this issue but has not been resolved by the associated bug fix: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php?topic=14973.0

On Sandbox, I want to update the custom fields 'Patrol Allocation' for participants of type Volunteer using the 'Update Patrol Allocation' custom profile.

It works with that combination, where the Custom Fields were created for 'Participants'.

However, it does not work with the 'Patrol Allocation (B)' set of custom fields which were created for the 'Participants - Volunteer' subset. When you try to batch update a volunteer participant using the 'Update Patrol Allocation (B)' profile, you can see the column header but the radio buttons are not there to enable you to make any changes. This is the problem I have on my site.

I successfully used this profile and these custom fields on my v2.2 installation, but the same profile wasn't working in v3.1.5. I upgraded to v3.2.2 as I thought the fix in the post above may have sorted this out too, but it does not.

Once you've created custom fields, you can't change them from being applied to a 'Participants-Role' subset back to all 'Participants'. So at the moment I'm stuck with custom fields with a few years of data that I want to keep using for participants at future events. But I can't batch update via profile unless I create a new set of custom data fields and lose the old ones.

Can anybody see a way to solve this?

thanks
Phil

can u please file an issue with a link to this forum post. we'll investigate and fix in a future version. When you file the issue, please give exact sequence of steps to reproduce on the demo server

if important to you, and you are a developer or your org has the $$$, please consider investigating and submitting a patch.
