Where do I start to install CiviCRM on Windows XP?
(1/1)
bernardgbailey:
Hi team,
Some time ago I installed a standalone version of CiviCRM which got washed out in the passage of time. Now I really need to get CiviCRM loaded again and up to speed with it.
I have a WAMP installation already running with vTiger.
Where do I go from here?
Cheers
Bernard

You would need to install Drupal or Joomla first (whichever of the two you want to use as a CMS).
After that, you can find more information on installing CiviCRM here:

I started with an XAMPP installation. At the time that I installed, we had to drop back one version because of the PHP version. I'm not sure if the current version works or not.
I uninstalled xampp 1.7.3 with php 5.3.1 and installed xampp 1.7.1 with php 5.2.9
I'd be interested in connecting with others running CiviCRM on XP. We are not trying to run production, but use XP as a tool to test upgrades to our Linux production installation.

I'm back looking at upgrading our drupal / civicrm version 1.9 that runs on a linux host and thinking that xampp on my local pc might help test or produce the upgrade database.
Previously, I had to uninstall xampp 1.7.3 and drop back to 1.7.1 (php 5.2.9) to get CiviCRM to run on my Windows XP PC. I see that xampp 1.7.4 (php 5.3.5) and I'm wondering if I'd be better using the xampp 1.7.1 install or 1.7.4 ?
I'm not trying to run production, just use as a tool for upgrading the database. We are currently on drupal / civicrm 1.9 and wish to upgrade to the latest civicrm or perhaps 4.0 beta 3.
Others running Xampp or interested in using it as an upgrade tool for CiviCRM?
Thanks.
