move case and grant out of the other submenu
August 29, 2011, 01:00:32 am
Hey there,

It is really bad usability to have case and grant menus in the other sub menu.  I presume the only reason they are there is to save space, but that only makes sense if the menu is getting really long because the organisation is using every single module, which I suspect happens in very few cases.

I think the amount of times that administrators would like to move case and grant out of the other menu to improve access happens much more than the amount of times that people would need to move them in their because they have so many components enabled that their menu is getting too long.

Thoughts, anyone?

Michael

I'd go moving the campaign part out of it and promote it top level as well

While we are at it, I'd split the reports and move them under the "proper" menu entry (eg constituent centric reports under contact, civimail related under mailing, case under case...)

Agreed Xavier - we shouldn't have a menu which out of the box demotes some modules to 'other' status.

I think that the reports is another forum thread - I reckon there are a few more improvements we can make to how reports appear in the menu by default and that merits a seperate discussion :)

I'll file an issue and assign to us.
