Adding Filter of "Contact Type" in CiviReport

As I'm learning and using CiviCRM more, I'm finding that I have to add several steps in order to separate individual contributions from organizational contributions.  For us these are defined by contact type.  My work-around for this is to create a smart group of "individual" and filter by that group, but I am finding inconsistencies with the totals.

It would really help if there were a "filter by contact type" option for all of the reports.  Is it possible to create this filter?

Curious if others have experienced this as well.

It's actually a pretty easy thing to add extra filters like that in the code. Do you or anyone in your project have any coding experience?
