CiviMail - Mailing Status - Still Running
February 19, 2008, 09:49:17 am
I have having some issues with sending scheduled mailings in CivicRM 2.0.  I have the cron job set up and when it runs it sends off the first scheduled job, but not any others.   The one that goes remains as "Running", and other jobs will not go until I delete the first job and run the cron job again.  I saw that this was on issue in 1.9 but was fixed in 2.0?

My report (I intentionally used a bad email to check on the bounce handling):

Quote
Intended Recipients   4
Succesful Deliveries   3 (75.00%)
Spooled Mails   0
Tracked Opens   2
Click-throughs   0
Forwards   0
Replies   0
Bounces   0 (0.00%)
Unsubscribe Requests   0 (0.00%)
Scheduled Date   February 18th, 2008 11:44 PM
Status   Running
Start Date   February 18th, 2008 11:48 PM
End Date

Thanks in advance.

Okay...  I figured out what is happening.   What is/was happening is that I was using a made up email address (bad email) on the same server with a different domain as the CivicRM installation & SMTP Server.  A 500 error was generated at the server level and the bounce was not processed, and the mailing stayed in "running" status.

I removed this bad email address and added another bad email address whose domain is hosted on  ANOTHER server and everything is working as it should.

Is this something that should be reported in the bug tracker or could this have something to do with the configuration my mailserver?

Please report it in our issue tracker (with a link to this forum thread) and I’ll check whether it’s something we can guard against in CiviCRM 2.1.
If you found the above helpful, please consider helping us in return – you can even steer CiviCRM’s future and help us extend CiviCRM in ways useful to you.

Issue has been fixed to handle few more checks for bad emails (rev 14007).
It would be great if you could go through the changes. let us know if it works for you or anything else is required.

See also this similar thread.

Was an issue filed about this? If so can you link to it?

http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-2694

one patch to this is: http://fisheye.civicrm.org/browse/CiviCRM/trunk/packages/Net/SMTP.php?r1=14007&r2=14264

however i suspect this is not a complete patch. chris do u know of a case where it dies because of a bad email that we do not recover from? if so can u please post a patch to the issue and we'll incorporate

thanx
