Accounting integration improvements
« on: June 20, 2012, 08:59:50 am »
Hey there,

I have a question about accounting integration improvements.

A client is thinking about changing their accounting software in the next 1 to 2 years.  They are wondering if there is anything in the pipeline in terms of CiviCRM accounting integration improvements that would affect their choice of accounting package.

I've spent 15-20 mins skimming the wiki pages, blog posts, etc. and discussion of specific vendors seems to be not that present and I am presuming that the work is all about general improvements that make civicrm more accountant friendly.

does that sound right? is there anything specific you would say to a client (at the strategic level) that asked you about what was on the horizon for civiaccounts.

Thanks!
Michael

just a heads up that in that timeframe we should have some good integration working with xero if you want to suggest they check that out.

Joe Murray says

"We will definitely be supporting a format to get transactional information into QuickBooks and AccPac. I believe the former requires us to output .iif format in addition to the current .csv format that is adequate for AccPac. I think a number of other packages support .iif format."

Hey Peter,

Just to clarify, is that xero work seperate or part of the accounting integration improvements work?

Is the Xero integration an ongoing project or has that been completed?
