Backup of custom fields necessary?
(1/1)
drpucci:
Please excuse the newbie question (I'm a database person, not webpage/dev person). How do I backup the custom fields, groups, tags and profiles I've just created? I know about backing up the MySQL DB. But should we have a crash and need to rebuild, this doesnt seem like it would be enough to recreate our current CiviCRM environment. Havent found anything in my two CiviCRM books other than one stating that it should be done.... But how?
Thanks so much for feedback. Even though I didnt learn the answer to my question by scouring the forum so far, I sure have had a lot of other questions answered.
Donald Lobo:
if you backup your entire mysql civicrm DB, u'll also backup the custom fields/groups/tag etc
You can skip backing up any files that have a "*_cache*" or "*_temp" in their name (cache and temp files respectively)
all civicrm config info is stored in the DB tables
