Criteria Gender not saved in smart group

Whenever I create a smart group the criteria Gender is not saved. For example I use the criteria Birth Date before 31-12-1995 and Gender = Female in an Advanced Search. The result is 80 persons. I add them all to a new smart group and then the result is 143 people and the criteria for Gender is lost.     All other criteria I tried work fine.

I'm using CiviCRM 4.2.7 on Drupal 7.19

Can you replicate this on the public demo. I just tried on my local 4.2 and 4.3 installs and the gender filter is being maintained as expected. I did notice that in 4.2 the Deceased = False flag is ALSO being saved into the smart group criteria even though I did not select it. That minor bug appears to have been fixed for 4.3 already.

Same problem on the demo server.

I made 2 screenshots where you can see that the criteria for gender is disappeared when creating the smart group. Smart group name is senior-female.

I just retried on Joomla 4.2 demo and still not seeing the problem. Here's the smart group (criteria is just Gender = Female).

Hi Dave,

Sorry, I forgot to include the screenshots so here they are. These are taken from http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org last sathurday.

You see the criteria for Gender in advanced search. But when choosing new smart group this criteria gets lost.

Strangely, when I try this today on http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org all works fine. I notice 2 differences: the language is now English (was French last sathurday) and it is in debug mode.

Ok so language setting is the factor here. I was able to replicate in 4.3 after setting language to French (also tried w/ Dutch and bug is present). Discussing with some folks on IRC to get some clues as to why non-English language would cause this bug.

Hope this can be fixed in next release. For now I'll switch to English language.

Work around: switch language to English, create your smart groups, switch back to your own language
