Hi - good to hear your interest and possible commitment - as you have probably read the goal is to have this built in to core such that it will be applicable in various political environments. There has not yet been much work done on pulling specs together though some of us have already implemented civicrm for political parties / agents who have used it through election campaigns. At present there are several other national level political parties evaluating the options and the hopes are that with a few more partners involved we can begin some more serious planning.

Hi Peter,
Just wanted to check in to see what the status might be on this project. I've got campaigns in Washington State and South Carolina interested so would love to be able to tell them this might be a viable option.
Thanks!

Well there have been developments by DharmaTech and PowerBase to sort out Phone/Walklists - see Blog
http://civicrm.org/node/658
and check out their demo site - otherwise I have seen some volunteer mgmt and election day integration work mostly on the drupal side but not sure that is going to be widely available.
What do you reckon your requirements/priorities are going to look like?

Just adding to this - guess I should turn it to a wiki or blog at some point.
http://onqsm.com/2009/11/30/voterfetch-lets-you-run-phone-banks-in-home/
cites that VoterFetch can be integrated with CiviCRM. Not sure if this is available for non-Republicans.

The CiviCRM core team is working with Dharmatech and Progressive Technology Project (PTP) to provide support for the walklist report and some related features in 3.1. The main task on the core team side is to provide optional address parsing support for street addresses. Details are here:
