Problems with Log Volunteer Hours
August 04, 2014, 04:17:28 am
1) When logging volunteer hours, the initial date/time box is correctly in local format (i.e. UK dd/mm/yyyy) but when saved is in US format of mm/dd/yyyy - see screen print attached
2) I added a new contact to this screen, and filled role and start date and saved, but they were blank when I came back to this screen (shown on screen attached)
3) There seems to be no option to correct a mistake - ie. to delete a volunteer.
4) As I couldn't delete a volunteer, I changed the status to 'Not required' and hit 'Save'.  I got the 'Please Wait' box which never went away.

Hi, Andy,

Thanks for reporting these issues. I've gone through and tried to reproduce them, and here's what I've found.

Yup, this is a real issue. I work mostly in my own locale, so I don't often test things out with other localization settings. I've created a new issue VOL-68 to track this bug. While it's on our radar now, it doesn't rank very highly compared to some of the other issues in the queue. If you'd like to see this resolved quickly, please consider donating resources (i.e., patch welcome!) or funds to move things along.

Also a real issue. Logged as VOL-69. This is a bad one. We'll fix this in the next release.

I believe this is a duplicate of VOL-29 -- feel free to weigh in on the discussion there. There *is* a way to correct mistakes, but it's not great. Volunteerism is recorded in CiviCRM as Activities. Because records disappear from the UI when they reach a completed state, you have to go to the contact record of interest and click on the Activities tab to edit or delete volunteer activity records.

I couldn't reproduce this last one. To a larger extent than CiviCRM core (at least the 4.4.x branch), CiviVolunteer relies quite a bit on AJAX. A likely explanation for the endless "please wait" message is a temporary internet connection outage. If you're able to reproduce this one consistently, please do report back.
