Allowing an email address in a profile on a contribution form
April 23, 2015, 01:10:20 pm
For reference, see this StackExchange Q&A ("Does the email address always have to be in the donation section on a Contribution Form?").

I have found where to remove the default email field in the contribution form template and where to prevent the email fields within profiles from being stripped out (see here) but I am not sure how to make this more automated, for example by passing the $showdefaultemailfield variable I created back into the template to determine whether to hide the core field or not.

Anyone who can help guide me to learning this?

I think I figured it out. Will post in JIRA to have someone else quality check it.

UPDATE: Here's the patch on JIRA
