question about how civi mail works
April 24, 2007, 12:26:51 pm

 ???
Hi, We are hosting with CiviSpace on Demand and I have a question about how CiviMail works. I uploaded a text and HTML file to be emailed out. I sent a test email to my work email and created a group of one to test email to. It's been about a day since I did this and I scheduled it to send immediately. Can anyone tell me why this email hasn't been sent yet?
Thanks!

You might want to contact CSOD support and file an issue there

Hi, just to follow belatedly.  You can always trigger your mailing by going to: www.domainname.org/civicrm/mailing/queue . CivicSpaceOnDemand has a cron job that hits that URL periodically.  In some cases, there may be corruption, or the cron job may have failed to run for some reason.  CiviMail seems much better in CiviCRM 1.7 and we have not had any problems since we upgraded.

Cheers,
Kieran

Hi,
I tried reading through the documenttion, but some it says to be updated summer 07, can anyone point me to, or tell me the minimal steps I need to take so that my mail is sent, right now I am just pefecting the art of mail that doesn't go through, and I'm not sure that I can really ask someone like Sarah above for assistance, thank you in advance

Current and relatively complete documentation for configuring CiviMail is now available in our online doc at:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/CiviMail+Configuration

Configuring and administering CiviMail does require a fair amount of technical expertise - and is not supported on many virtual hosting services. You may want to consider trying out CivicSpace on Demand and/or the beta CiviMail SMTP hosting service from UAS. Both are linked from the above page.

I've had pretty good luck with Open Social Sites also (opensocialsites.com) as my host / civimail provider.
