PayPal Standard 404 Error

CMS: Joomla 1.5.6
MySQL: 5.0.51a-community
PHP: 5.2.4

Pay Later option works perfectly but when trying to pay via PayPal (Standard) receive 404 Error:

Here you specify you payment processor settings. Make sure its correct.

Settings are correct and as follows:

Payment Processor type: PayPal - Website Payments Standard
Name: SSEP
Description: Stepping Stone Education Programs
Is this Payment Processor active? [Checked]
Is this Payment Processor the default? [Checked]
Merchant Account Email:xxxxx@xxxx.com
Site URL: https://www.paypal.com/
Recurring Payments URL: https://www.paypal.com/

Solved:

The problem for me appeared to be when applying a PROFILE to the event page. After some playing around I realised the [Address] option was causing me problems.

MY SOLUTION:
When adding a new profile field for Street Address
Select [Contacts] ->  [Supplemental Address 1]   ->  [Your Choice].

This caused the error:
When I tried this it seemed to break when directing to PayPal. The above worked for me
Select [Contacts] ->  [Street Address]   ->  [Your Choice].

While working towards http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-3471, we could not replicate the problem (both on joomla & drupal).
Could you reconfirm and put down the exact steps you followed ?

Tested this at http://sandbox.civicrm.org/ with same error.

These are the steps:

1. Created New Event Type
2. Created Payment processor (PaPal Standard)
3. Created 2 Profiles: (Student and Parent)
    Student Fields:
        First Name (Individual) 
    Parent Fields:
        First Name (Individual)
        Street Address (Primary)(Contact)

Created Event via the wizard:
4. Selected the event type I created
5. Participant Role: Attendee
6. Participant Listing Disabled
7. Event Title: School Event
8. Event Summary: School Event Summary
9. Entered Start and End Dates
10. Set maximum attendance
11. Entered a message for full event
12. Public Event (enabled)
13. Public Event (enabled)
14. Entered address details for event for the following fields:
      Street Address
      City
      Country
      State/Provincew
      email (prefered)   
      show location enabled
15. Paid Event (enabled)
16. Payment Processor (one I created at step 2.)
17. Contribution Type: Event Fee(s)
18. Enable Pay later option: (enabled)
19. Pay later label: default
20. Pay later instructions: send to this address
21. Price set <none>
22. Set 2 Fees: First fee the default
23.  Allow online registration: (enabled)
24. Registration Link: Register
25. Set Registration Date (note that registration start date was prior to current date)
26. Register Multiple Participants: (enabled)
27. Include Profile (top of page): Student
28. Include Profile (bottom of page): Parent
29. Confirmation screen:
       Title: confirm your registration
30. Thank-you screen
       Title: Thank You for Registering
31. Send Confirmation Email? <Yes>
32. Confirm From Name: Contact Name
33. Confirm From Email: registrations@registrations.com
34. CC Confirmation To: : registrations@registrations.com
35. Tell A Friend enabled? (enabled) kept defaults without change

The above is what creates the error on the live registration Page. Page Error (FF 3.0 and IE 7)

From what I have found and my work around indicates this is that when I create a profile and select:
Street Address (Primary)(Contact) this causes the error. When this is omitted it works fine.

I tried it on sandbox both as the demo user and as an anonymous user and it worked fine and redirected me to paypal. I got redirected to this screen in safari:

SOLVED  :
If the address has a backslash in it, this is what causes the error.

So i tried 30 street and this passed to PayPal fine
When I entered 1/30 Street (error occured).

In Australia we use 1/30 My Street to signify Unit 1 30 My Street. International address variation issue.
Might Be an idea to break down street address as:

Street Number (numeric only)
Number Suffix (eg A, B, C)
Unit/Suite/Apt
Street Name
Street Type (BLVD, AVE)
Street Direction (NW)

Just an idea.
