Changing one word? Contribution to Payment
«

Hopefully I posted in an appropriate place. I figured those working with the language would know best.
We want to use the contribution section of civicrm to take online payments. How can I change the word Contribution to Payment
so that the contribution page where is says "Contribution Amount" will say "Payment Amount" instead?

The easiest way to do the below is to customize the templates where u want the information changed. Check:
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Customize+Built-in,+Profile,+Contribution+and+Event+Registration+Screens
For some text, you might need to hack the php file (for form element labels)
An alternative approach is to create a new "translation". This is a bit more work though
