I am interested in using CiviCRM as a sales CRM in addition to using the great email and event features.

However, the home page does not seem to be very robust. Currently all I see is activities. Is there a way to add to this functionality similar to SugarCRM (see http://www.opensourcecms.com/misc/sugarcrm/admin.html for example)?

Specifically, I would like to process a company through the sales process something like lead->contacted->interested->client

I would like to then see clients listed in these categories on the home page

Can other lists be added to the home page?

Also, I would like to sort these lists by priority.

Finally, I would like the activities list to be more granular, like breaking it up into calls, meetings, etc.

Thanks so much for your input.

In 2.1, you can use the 'dashboard' hook to customize the home page. Check:

http://svn.civicrm.org/hrd/trunk/drupal/hrd.module

for an example implementation
