Can Demographics be made to be a 'core' Custom Data Group, that we users can then decide whether to include as Tab or Inline, and also add more Custom Data Groups to?

Or is this already possible and I have missed it?

There currently is no 'core' custom data group Smiley demographics information is part of the contact record currently

You do have the option of not showing it in the preferences screen.

Understood - but several people have suggested/asked about how to add more demographics data. So I was wondering what would be the downside of reconcieving demographics as a 'custom data group' that happens to already have a couple of fields included when we do the install - and thereby allowing people to extend that section rather than having a 'Demographics' section that is so limited, and having to create another 'demographics' section to capture other 'demographic-type' data?

It is possible to do so, but will involve a fair amount of work in restructuring and moving stuff away from the contact table. It will also introduce the notion of "custom groups" shipped that can be enabled/disabled/extended etc.

Would be great for someone to step up and either code this feature and/or sponsor it to make it happen. I suspect its at least 40-60 worth of work (u'll need to to also fix import/export/search etc)

Points noted - it won't be us on this gig - probably one of those awful features that many would get a tiny benefit from so probably won't happen ;-(

Hi,

Do you think this
http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,6350.msg27976.html#msg27976

could solve your problem ?

(bonus question, could you participate in the funding of that) ?
