Date format in search builder
June 10, 2012, 11:50:54 am
I am a consultant (not a programmer) for an organization that uses CiviCRM 4.1.2 with Drupal 6.20, and I'm having problems filtering a smart search using absolute dates.

I am trying to create a smart search to find organizations that had certain activities occur between June 1, 2011 and May 31, 2012.  I think the search is pretty solid, except for filtering by date.  The documentation is clear that I need to use date format yyyymmdd, but when I use the search criteria >=20110601, I receive error message "Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred. Cannot recognize for 20110601."  Just in case, I've tried 06012011 and 2011-06-01 with the same result.

I'd appreciate any help!  Thanks!

Hi,

what search are you using to build your smart group? Advanced search?

Hi Xavier!

I'm trying to do a pretty complex search and to get my results in a particular format, so I'm using search builder rather than advanced search.

(I don't have the skills to create a new report, but I have ALMOST enough skill to use search builder!)

I'm looking for organizations that received a certain type of help on one or more specific topics during the time period, and I need the results to show the topic, type of organization, etc. It looks like search builder will do that.  I'm just hung up on the date filtering.

Let me know if that's not enough info.  Thanks!

There are a few problems with search builder. we are fixing some of them for 4.3 including this one. I just committed a patch for this as part of this issue:
