No CiviCRM Menus After Successful Install
October 02, 2009, 10:08:32 am
I had a successful install with the CiviCRM 3.0 Stable ALT version package. However, I can not find any of the CiviCRM menus after install. It looks like in previous versions the menus were subs off of the Joomla components menu. The 3.0 demo (http://joomla.demo.civicrm.org) shows the menus within CiviCRM. In the attached screengrab, you can see my options - it is neither.

I do not have access to the database in order to tell if it is running on an InnoDB engine. Is this an issue that would be caused by running MyISAM? Or is it something else?

Thanks.

The page is missing all css styles.
Go to this page:

http://YOURDOMAIN/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting/updateConfigBackend&reset=1
and make sure the settings are correct.

Also check settings here:
http://YOURDOMAIN/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting/url&reset=1

and make sure the settings are correct.

Thanks! Yes, the Resource URLs were not set. I am now getting the menus and other CSS styling with the following settings:

CiviCRM Resource URL: http://MYDOMAIN/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm

Image Upload URL: http://MYDOMAIN/media/civicrm/persist/contribute/

Custom CiviCRM CSS URL: http://MYDOMAIN/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm

I also had the same problem that occurred here.  I fixed it, or so I thought, but now the content in the center of the page is screwed up.  I attached an example of the screen grab.  In the demo, the columns are lined up better.  It is almost like ALL of the css is not being applied here.  Any ideas?

I figured out the problem and your information was helpful... thanks!

It ended up being that the CSS url needed to be http://yourdomain/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/css/civicrm.css.  Otherwise, the layout looks awful.

Thanks again.

Thanks! I had the same issue (no menus), but in Drupal. This fixed it.

I tried the above changes, but all I get when I save is

unrecoverable error
Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.

    Could not find valid Key

What's happening? ???

You should start a new thread with detail description of the install history, versions etc. - altho  I can tell you that this error is sometimes related to inconsistent settings for your base URL (e.g. http://www.example.org vs. http://example.org). Certainly you should search the forum for other instances of that error.

Thank you.... :D

I actually re-installed 3.03 and then could use the links provided above to revise the urls. Everything looks pretty good, I've got menus but the pages are not quite correctly formatted and the menus don't work.....  hmm
