Monthly donors
November 02, 2009, 09:06:22 am
Setting up a page to solicit monthly donors is causing me some issues. The page I set up to solicit monthly donors is a bit confusing.  This is b/c the contribution page requires me to select a payment processor.  But those people signing up to be monthly donors don't use the payment processor.  They are simply sending in their information via a form and we are using that information to charge their acct every month.  We can do this b/c we don't have a huge amount of these kind of donors.
I wish I could configure it so that the Google checkout payment processor would disappear if they selected the "I pledge to contribute this amount every..." box.  As it is, when they choose to become monthly donors, the payment processor button is still there which confuses them.  I really only need that button to appear for those who want to make one time donations.

btw....what sort of payment processors do you people use to deduct donations from people's accounts automatically on a recurring basis?  Like I said before....our secy just does this manually every month on the first of the month.  but if we got more of these kind of donors, this could be quite a cumbersome task.

1. you might want to use paypal standard for recurring donors

2. you can use the pay later option for folks who want to pay later. How do u charge their acct?

the problem with this is that Paypal just reminds the people that they need to make another donation.  We need a setup that automatically deducts the amount they authorize from their account without them having to do anything.  I don't think paypal standard will do this.  I wish I was wrong.  I think you have to have paypal pro do to this.  $30/month.

our secy just sits down and manually punches in all the credit card numbers on our credit card machine.  :-[

1. paypal standard in recurring mode deducts the amount from the user's account automatically

I presume this means that it automatically deducts the amount from their paypal acct.....?

I really appreciate the feedback.  One issue tho.......most of our donors don't use paypal.  Most of them just want to have their credit card deducted every month.  some people want the money deducted from their bank account.  How are you people doing this?
