Upgrading from 2.2.7 to 3.1.3
April 07, 2010, 07:58:00 pm
I've searched on the forums and it looks like this issue has been experienced by others (http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php?topic=12466.0) but what is the quickest resolution?  I'm on a shared host with only access to phpMyAdmin.  How can I get the upgrade to run and create this table?

Here's the error I'm getting:

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.

DB Error: no such table

Database Error Code: Table 'dbname.civicrm_contact_type' doesn't exist, 1146

Return to home page.

But when I try running the upgrade script again I get this:

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.

Database check failed - the database looks to have been partially upgraded. You may want to reload the database with the backup and try the upgrade process again.

Return to home page.

Is there a fix for this?  It's pretty frustrating that I can't upgrade smoothly from 2.2.7 to 3.1.3.

Any suggestions on how to complete this upgrade without having to start it again from scratch?

Seems like since this is a known bug we need to fix it - who can help?

-Trevor

In the meantime I'm reimporting my db (backup) of the 2.2.7 site codebase/db and then I'll try the upgrade process again - hopefully it works the 2nd time!

Ok but this still appears to be a bug in the upgrade process.  I'm not in the position to hire anyone to do this work since I'm actually the "hired" hand on this one ... but what suggestions does the community have to fix this apparent issue with upgrading CiviCRM?
