How-to exclude one contact type from anonymous search
October 20, 2007, 12:09:31 am
I've been browsing the forums and the wiki in search of information but with no straight luck, if I have overlooked something please point me to the right direction.

I have this latest stable civicrm installed on drupal 5.2, and everything works fine except I can't get my head around this issue.

I want my anonymous user to be able to search and browse only one type of contact (organizations) while I want authenticated user to have access to all contact types.

It seems that I can restrict access only if the users are authenticated and the profile. Is there a way to do that

1) Create a smart group /w contact_type=organization using advanced-search.

2) Specify the smart-group in "Limit listings to a specific group" when setting-up the profile.

3) Give the anonymous user permission for "profile listings and forms".

Words highlighted are the keywords you need to look for more details, on forum-search and http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC

You might also want to read the ACL documentation and give access to the specific profile to anon/auth via specific ACL's.
