[SOLVED] Custom fields added to a profile are not showing up

I am trying to add specific fields to the form that an individual gets when using the link “Create new account” in the left sidebar. It seems that I am not able to add Custom Fields, only existing fields. This is what I have tried:

I created a custom data set and within that I added a custom field called “Employer”. I did not want to use the existing “Current Employer” because we already have many CiviCRM contacts that are not yet Drupal users and the Employed by relationship is already created for them. If, when the actually create their own Drupal account, they put in their own employer and use a different name for the same employer it will create another contact record and overwrite what we already have in there for them.

I then go to the profile that CiviCRM is using for the new contact creation form. I know that I have the correct one because I changed the name and made the address required and that was all reflected in the displayed form. I added the “Employer” field to the profile, looked at the preview, and all seems fine; however, when I actually go the the contact creation page the field “Employer” is not there.

If I add an existing field it shows up. It seems that only custom fields that I have created will not display. Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong?

I figured it out. I did not have the permission 'Access all custom data'  given to anonymous users.

I have the same issue but whenever I try to add a custom field to the registration form I cannot figure out how. How did you do it? The permission is set correctly btw. I feel very stupid. It's been quite a few hours I'm trying to figure this out now. Seems like such a simple thing...

Thanks for your quick answer!!

However, I didn't quite find what I was looking for, had already read some of the docs, hence I'm writing here.
