Self-Register / Signup online as new case in civiCASE
April 04, 2012, 10:10:12 am
Hi,

We're just starting to explore using civiCRM with Joomla on our public web site. One of the things that we would like to do, and it appears that civiCASE might be well suited to do is to collect and treat feedback received via the site as a case within civiCASE, but I can't get it to work. What I would like to do is use a 'countact us' form for users to fill out and submit their feedback to one or more areas of interest (different distributions list). When they submit it, I would like for them to be automatically registered as a contact / member / civiCASE, but I have not been able to find a way to make this happen. It appears that the only way to originate a case in civiCASE is to create a new case from the admin interface. Is there any way to have an individual self register as a case in civiCASE? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

You will need to do this via code. I suspect u can use case api, but not sure of the status of that API. You might need to extend / improve that api while u r working on it

Thanks for the replay. Doing it in code is beyond my ability for now. I've found a partical work-around. I've set up a profile page to use as a feedback form. When it's submitted, the contact is added to a pending approval group called 'Site Feedback'. The admin can then go to the 'Site Feedback' group and add the contact as a new case in civiCASE. It's not great, but it appears that it may me workable.
