PayPal link not working

This message is right above the paypal button
"If you have a PayPal account, you can click the PayPal button to continue. Otherwise, fill in the credit card and billing information on this form and click Continue at the bottom of the page. "

But if I click on the PayPal button I get the below message.

Payment Processor Error message
10527: Invalid Data This transaction cannot be processed. Please enter a valid credit card number and type.

Am I doing something wrong? The contact should not have to provide their credit card number if they want to pay via PayPal.

i think there was a bug with 4.2.0 with regard to this and has been fixed in 4.2.1

i'm not sure about the 4.1 version

dont know offhand. check the issue tracker for paypal express

it was fixed in the past 2 weeks

I am having this same issue. To fix this do we need to update the following files from the ticket?

    branches/v4.2/CRM/Contribute/Form/ContributionBase.php (+21 -2)
    branches/v4.2/CRM/Contribute/Form/Contribution/Main.php (+2 -2)
    branches/v4.2/templates/CRM/Contribute/Form/Contribution/Main.tpl (+51 -25)

Ideally you should upgrade to the latest version of CiviCRM which includes not only this patch but many other bug fixes as well.

This is generally true that as CiviCRM advances, such as when 4.2.5 is released some months from now, you should upgrade to it.
