County field not being displayed in edit mode in User Account profile

On a new 4.2.7 installation, I uploaded the counties to the civicrm_county table, checked county in the address settings, and added the home county field to the bottom of the Name and Address profile.

I selected United States, Texas, and Austin, and hit save.  I got a positive message "The changes have been saved.", but the county field showed '-select state-'.

I went back to the view tab, and it correctly displayed 'Austin' in the county field.  But when I clicked on the edit tab again, it showed '-select state-'.

I was able to reproduce this on the demo site: http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/user/4

Has anyone else seen this or know of a workaround?  I wanted to check before opening a bug report and trying to debug it.

I just fixed a bug with regard to country / state with regard to this in profile when u had multiple countries.

The county code was contributed and recently added (by andrew hunt) so might be a bug in it. Would be great if you can investigate and figure out whats happening

Thanks, Lobo.  I'll open a bug report and see what I can figure out.

The same profile included in a CiviCRM Contribution page seems to work fine, and shows the county value correctly.

The issue opened, CRM-11947, also references that the county field has issues when the profile is used in standalone edit mode, like here:

I won't repeat what is posted in the issue, but wanted to mention here that the county field issues are not restricted to the profile being used in the User Account context.

While looking into this county field issue, I found that when using the Name and Address profile in Drupal User Account edit mode, the state and country field values cannot be unset, once they have a saved value.
