Event Type Options Not Showing
May 25, 2007, 02:52:59 am
Hello,

I just upgraded from civi 1.6 to 1.7.  All appears to have gone well except that the list of Event Type options does not show up in my Events admin.

It shows up fine on my local server installation, but not my remote server.

If anyone could steer me in the right direction to try and find the missing link, i'd much appreciate it.

CiviEvent is added in 1.7. So can there is no Administer CiviCRM >> Event Type in earlier versions of CiviCRM.

Grace - We're not quite clear as to whether the you've upgraded your remote server to 1.7. If so, and you're not seeing CiviEvent stuff in Admin or in menu block...

* Administer CiviCRM >> Global Settings >> Enable Components : make sure CiviEvent is enabled
* Drupal Access Control : make sure you've granted "access CiviEvent" to the applicable roles

To clarify:
I have upgraded my remote server to 1.7.  I have civiEvent enabled and i have granted all appropriate access to CiviEvent.
So it seems strange that when i go into Event Type Options all i see is

"There are no option values entered. You can add one."

My settings are all the same as what i set up on my local server.

I'm not sure where else to look.  I checked all the database tables and they all look the same from the local server to the remote server.
any ideas what else i might check?

Thank you!

Did you load either sql/civicrm_data.mysql OR sql/civicrm_generated.mysql on you remote server. One or the other of these are required- and both contain the "sample" Event Types.

"Did you load either sql/civicrm_data.mysql OR sql/civicrm_generated.mysql on you remote server."

no i did not because the upgrade instructions (1.6 to 1.7) did not specify this.  Also, i did not run either of these scripts on my local server and the options were there. (perhaps run in the upgrade script?)

Anyway, i just ran the civicrm_generated.mysql on my remote server and the database tables were populated appropriately, however for some reason, they are still not showing up when i go into event type options in the admin menu.  i've cleared my caches, logged in another browser, but still they don't show.  I created a new event type and that shows up fine.

any ideas?

That's pretty wierd. Do you have access to your mysql database through phpmyadmin or something similar? Can you check if civicrm_option_value contains records like "Conference", "Exhibition", "Fundraiser" and so on?

Also - are you using a Domain ID other then 1 on your remote server?

Check the following setting in your civicrm.settings.php file:

define('CIVICRM_DOMAIN_ID' , 1 );

yes, it is weird.  the records that you mentioned are in my civicrm_option_values table.
i'm stumped at this point.  (But then as a n00b, that's been a frequent state for me)...

Ehm, I'm not sure if the usual suspect was mentioned in this thread before - did you clean up your caches (templates_c and Drupal's cache table)?

No, the "usual suspects" were not mentioned in this forum, but i had already cleared them after i reloaded the mysql queries.

Just to be sure, i emptied them all again and still no go.

Perhaps this is the work of the adverse forces?

any other suspects?

Grace,

I guess we should have a quick chat on IRC or IM to go through potential solutions, it will take too long on forum.

Please try to reach me on IRC (#civicrm at irc.freenode.net), my nick is michau.

Thx,
