how configure civicrm for joomla 1.5.2
May 12, 2008, 01:58:58 am

Hi

I am using Joomla 1.5.2 version. And I need to add civicrm also. So I downloaded the 'civicrm-2.0.3-joomla' and tried to upload using 'Install/Uninstall' . It gets uploaded, but NO messages shows the component installed successfully and I couldn't find this civicrm in the components/modules sections.

How can I install it and enable it ? Is there any configuration is needed ? Is there any installation step-by-step tutorial available for joomla 1.5.2?

Please help...

Thanks & Regards
Jurdy

First of all, welcome aboard!  :)

You will find installation instruction here: Install 2.0 for Joomla.  Note that CiviCRM is too large for the Upload/Install process.  It needs to be uploaded to your server independently from Joomla, such as via FTP or SFTP.

Joomla 1.5.x will not be officially supported by CiviCRM until our version 2.1.

I have uploaded the civicrm as mentioned in the help topic. But when I try to install it using directory install , I got one error message like " Please enter package directory". What I have to do? my site root is "http://joomlatest.comeleonwebtest.info/"  . I have copied the files to "joomlatest.comeleonwebtest.info/administrator/components/com_installer/component/".

I am using Joomla 1.5.2 and enabled legacy mode.? How can I enter it as a package directory?

Thanks& Regards

Jurdy,

For the most part, I followed the "CiviCRM 2.0 on Joomla 1.5 without Legacy Support" to a tee, making the changes as recommended and got it installed.  Admittedly, the install takes a while...so be patient.   (NOTE: I started making the changes, then I noticed that the author actually provided links to the corrected versions of admin.civicrm.php and configure.php, leaving only civicrm.xml to change which was a piece of cake.)

So, first I extracted the CiviCRM module into a completely different path than my joomla installation (ie. instead of extracting it to /blah/home/john/johnf.net/joomla/administrator/compontents/com_civicrm, I extracted to /blah/home/john/johnf.net/holding/).

Then I made the prescribed changes to the files.

Then I entered "/blah/home/john/johnf.net/holding/com_civicrm" as the "Install Directory".

    And Voila!  It worked.

There was one problem where all the administration links generated by CiviCRM were missing "joomla/" so they were all trying to link to http://mysite.net/administrator/blah/blah/blah instead of http://mysite.net/joomla/administrator/blah/blah/blah.  *** Now I see what I needed to do...and the author also mentioned it at the bottom of his article:

Also make sure variable '$live_site' is set in joomla/configuration.php before you begin with the installation.

PS.  I really like your site layout...what template are you using

Hi
I have followed the instructions on - http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Install+2.0+for+Joomla.
as per the instructions, downloaded the civicrm for joomla, then unzipped it and uploaded to - /joomlatest.comeleonwebtest.info/administrator/components/com_installer/component/. Then I entered this path as directory path in install section. But the same error displaying " Please enter package directory".
When I try to change the '$live_site'  in joomla/configuration.php to my site root as 'joomlatest.comeleonwebtest.info", I got one 404 page not found error.

Is there any changes I have to do any other files or any other installation tutorial for joomla 1.5.2 . ?

Pls help

Thanks

Jurdy       ps: dear john thanks for your information, I am using rokettheme templates.

I've made changes per the CiviCrm Joomla 1.5 instructions at http://www.civicrm.org/node/297.  You can download the tarball at http://npttools.s3.amazonaws.com/com_civicrm2.0joomla1.5.tar.gz. Note, this is not endorsed by the CiviCrm tool...I'm just offering this to help people out.  When they publish the official CiviCrm archive for Joomla 1.5, I will take down this version.  You'll need to extract this to a folder on your server, say /joomlabasedirectory/media and then install from directory. Something like /rootpath/htdocs/joomlainstall/media/com_civicrm/

If I remember, this happens when the url to the directory is incorrect.  It took me several attempts to get the path correct, and each time, it was not I received an invalid package or directory statement
