Add profile drop down is missing

My online configuration screen for events does not allow me to select a profile  - there should be a drop down but it isn't there.  The attached screen shot shows what I am getting instead.  Is there a work around for adding a profile? I am using the latest versions of Civi (4.5) and Word Press (4.0.1).  Thanks in advance for any help - project has come to a screeching standstill (

Liss if you search this forum you will find several other topics about the exact same thing, with recommended debugging procedure which boils down to checking for error messages in your browser console, clearing caches, and checking for incompatible extensions/plugins/customizations.

Thanks, Coleman.  I must not have used the correct search terms.  Jetpack appears to be the culprit.
