Multiple individuals on one mailing label

I have a client who requires that mailings be targeted to individuals, but does not want multiple mailings to the same address. So, for example, they need:

Mary Somebody
Joe Somebody
Peter Othername
123 Street
Cityville

They do NOT want 3 separate mailings to the one address and they do NOT want the names excluded from the label (i.e. the search is on individuals, not households). Would it be possible to have a checkbox in the "Make Mailing Labels" screen that says something like "Use one mailing label per unique address"? Then, if we use the "Use Household Address" for the individuals, the addresses will all be the same and will be interpreted that way when parsed by the labeler.

If the folks at CiviCRM think this might be a worthwhile feature (think of the environment - less mailouts and less trees cut down), I'm happy to take a stab at coding it and contributing back to the community, because I'm going to have to do it anyway!

This would be a great addition to the "mailing label" feature.

I would add two checkboxes:

a. Use one mailing label per unique address
b. Use shared household address

I think there is some overlap between a and b, but might be nice to make it explicit

We've been working on similar functionality for shared household mailings. Would be good to touch base with you further and share experience.

We've implemented a partial solution using custom searches, custom data and households, but I'm sure it can be improved.

I too vote for this one, at the moment it is a small but ultimately costly overhead.
