Suggestion for Forum
August 24, 2008, 04:00:48 pm
Not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this or not, but wouldn't it be helpful if there were fields in our profiles where we could enter the versions we are working with...

I may be wrong, but wouldn't this information appear below our posts??? It would certainly help weed out researching problems concerning other versions than the one we're concerned about.

I always find that I search thru a lot of problems w/ the drupal version, when all I'm concerned about are other Joomla installations...

We store drupal version in db. Check http://sandbox.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/setting/uf?reset=1

Sorry, Kurund, the link didn't work...

Perhaps you misunderstood...I'm not talking about where the version of civiCRM is stored, either in Drupal or Joomla!, but rather that, in our forum profile fields, perhaps there should be a way of storing our environment so that other forum members can see what we're working on/with...

An SMF forum upgrade and the a module which allows folks to enter additional information (like db version, php version and civicrm version) is scheduled for the near future (next couple of weeks or so). This is assuming we find an appropriate profile module for SMF :)

thnx, lobo...thought in SMF you could create additional profile fields...just thought it might help weed through a lot of posts that don't pertain to our particular interests....

Just to let you know, I installed Custom Profile Field Mod and added 4 fields allowing to store CiviCRM, CMS, MySQL and PHP versions. Any suggestions for the use of this mod welcome. :-)

Thx,
m

OK, I added mine. I wondered where it would show up, and then looked at an old post. It's right there in the margin, should be handy. I just got to remember to keep it up to date as things change.

BTW It looks like the posting level labels got changed. The count itself looks good, but I'm pretty sure I had three stars and used to have "Post Frequently"

Great...you're right, it should be handy...

Now, the question is, is it searchable???

Yup, once every couple of months I slightly raise higher levels post counts. :-) That's supposed to be a motivator for people living on this forum. ;-)
