Multiple registrants for events
June 25, 2007, 06:24:38 am
Is there any way other than separate registrations to handle a registration along the lines of "John Doe and guest?" I'm looking at CiviCRM for a not for profit radio station's studio events, and they typically do registrations in two's. I suppose another option would be to half the registration maximum, but it would be better for them to be able to define the numbers, as they want to be able to "fill the house"

I also wanted to mention, while I'm at it, that I'm quite blown away by CIVICRM. I'm riding the learning curve, but I'm associated with a number of organizations who I think will find it very helpful.

Thanks
Chris

1.8 has a contributed feature from Ideal Solutions LLC called Price Sets.

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/Price+Sets

While not meeting your needs exactly, you could potentially model your need on that quite nicely and also specify how many guests etc along with the charge for each additional guest

You can also create custom fields to attach to the contribution or event registration form.  You can specify a custom field for first/last name of their guest.

Thanks for the quick replies! Would the options you're suggesting still work with the "maximum participants" cutoff? For example a limit of 20, 5 bring a second person, 10 more register as singles, would the next one be politely told to go away?

Thanks
Chris

unfortunately not :( If this is an important requirement for your organization, you might want to consider either building it or sponsoring someone to do the work to make this feature a bit smoother rather than our current creative hacks :)
