Print donation receipts module/feature.

Hello all,

We are wondering if anyone already worked on a module to print donation receipts instead of using email receipts.

Also if anyone worked on a “annual summary donation module”, that will print out a summary of all donations made by each “contributor” during a specified year.

Any input, ideas, “how-to’s” will be highly appreciated.

I guess for this you can use Find Contribution >> Print Contribution Receipt (More Action)

Also if anyone worked on a “annual summary donation module”, that will print out a summary of all donations made by each “contributor” during a specified year.

IMO you should develop Custom Search for this.

Not really - this prints a sheet listing the Contributions, rather than creating a Receipt to post to Customer which includes info like Tax Number, organisational address etc.

Also not sure how the Custom Search would then enable one to click 'print annual summary for each of the selected contacts' so that each contacts details and record of contributions appear on a separate sheet.

Another area we may need to progress is ability for the contact to have permission to access and print off this sort of info for themselves for their own tax records eg for their annual tax return to show how much they have donated over the year.

I agree with peterd.

What we need is to be able to send summaries to the donors for tax purposes (once a year).

And also every time the donate $, to print and mail out (no email) a thankyou letter with a receipt.

Will a single summary sheet, stating Thank you for your donation, and printing the donation amount, like generic invoice work for you.

I'm understanding the requirement better to see the possible avaliable solution or to build feature.

Sounds likely if we could also include some basic info like the tax number of the organisation, though that could also be handled by pre-printing it on to letterheads.

If you have a simply tax model you can use MATH functions directly in the smarty template to  calculate the tax & non tax portions

Hi,

For wikimedia fr, we have a module that generates the pdf tax receipt to send by post or email it directly (two new buttons on the contribution view). Each receipt has a date and unique ref, we use the thank you date and invoice id for that purpose (so if there is a thank you date, means the receipt has been sent)

As they have a lot of them, we are working on a batch mode now: adding a new "prepare the receipt" button on the contribution search result, and a cron job to generate and send them in batch (working on this one, should be finished this week)

We are using a template to do the layout of the receipt so that's easy to adjust the text and a bunch of custom token (eg. to write the donation amount in letter, mandatory in france)

Will check how/what we can share with them, but right now it's fundraising season, so not going to be their top priority this month.

Whats the difference between the receipt you send & the one generated when you choose the existing option from contribution search?

Various stuff, like a unique reference (that is different from the id of the contribution as it has to be sequential numbers including only the receipt sent, and you can have some donations that are without tax returns), be sure there is one and only one receipt...

The main conceptual difference is in theory you got one receipt per donation, but one tax receipt per fiscal year. In practice, as most people give only once per year, not so much of a difference.
