What server settings can make massmailer not work but only single ones go out

I am using Drupal 6.9 and Civimail 2.2 beta2

I could get the single emails configured via SMTP, SSL SMTP and even google mail, however the massmailer I could only configure to use google mail to send (Cron and spooler reset done as part of the normal operations to send)
So I am looking for pointers where to go from here to try and talk to my host about what settings prevent the massmailer but allow the single emails to go out.
Any pointers?

Few questions:
1. Have you configured cron job to send mails via CiviMail ?
Check http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMUPCOMING/CiviMail+Installation#CiviMailInstallation-SettingUptheCronJob

If you have not set cron you can also send mails using following url:

Drupal: http://<your_site>/civicrm/mailing/queue?reset=1

2. If you have done above, do you get any errors while sending mailing using CiviMail ?

Kurund thanks for responding.
Yes cron were running (manually and auto) and I also reset the spooler queue regularly with that reset link.
(Both when run manually gave NO error messages just the normal white screen for cron and the reset page go back to the mailerpage.)
There were actually no error messages even with debug enabled. Say it has send to 4 recipients time and again, but noting appeared. when I set the SMTP to gmail then it does exactly the sme but this time it does send, hover with a list of over 200 it start to bounce so this is not the correct option. See link above to study case.
Also sendmail done nothing even if I use the phpinfo settings.
