Profiles with Organization Fields not Allowed in Contribution Pages...why?

Hi I am making a Contribution Page that is a Membership Application.  I want to include a couple of Profiles.   CiviCRM doesn't allow Profiles to be included in a Contribution Page which contain one or more custom data fields of type: Organization.  

Most of my company's members are Organizations, and the membership application is being filled out on behalf of a prospective member Organization.

I'm curious why, if CiviCRM allows membership of an Organization, why CiviCRM disallows Profiles with Organization fields in the membership form?  I'm sure there is a reason for this, but what workflow logic is driving the CiviCRM team's decision making process here?

PS. I can get around this restriction by recoding my custom Data as type "Contact" but this seems awkward as my custom data is Organizationally specific: how many employees, description of product, when was your company founded, etc etc.

basically it complicates the code significantly and we'll need to restructure the code a bit to seperate the individual related profile fields and org related fields

that said, our new model of using an ajax popup in some admin screens to get folks to create the organization separate from the main form will make it into the membership pages etc in a future release
