Downloading index.php instead of executing
November 05, 2007, 02:05:57 pm
I know this is probably something ridiculous.

I have Joomla! 1.5 (which I know is not yet supported, but ) and Civicrm 1.8, php 4.4.7.

I was having trouble installing, so I installed on a different unix box and got the whole thing working.

But now, I moved it to the place that I actually want it, and when I attempt to follow any links on the civicrm menu, I get the index.php attempting to download (a blank file) instead of civicrm.

I tried increasing the max_execution_time and memory_limit, but they didn't seem to help.

If anyone has suggestions, I'd be so happy to hear them. :)

Is it the Joomla root index.php file that's downloading, or a file within CiviCRM? Is the Joomla installation working properly, independent of the CiviCRM extension?

It sounds like a php/server issue. The page isn't being recognized as script, and thus is downloading rather than running. I've got CiviCRM running on several 1.5RC3 installations with no problems. But all mine are running php 5. Are you sure you're using CiviCRM 1.8, not 1.9, because 1.9 no longer runs on php 4. That could be the issue.

This sounds like a problem I am running into as well.

Just to get things working, can I get civiCRM version 1.8 from anywhere? All I can find is 1.9...

Thanks!

On the SourceForge site they have multiple older version, but you have to enable their display.

Goto the download page normally. At the bottom of the list of 1.9 files you will see

View older releases from the civicrm-stable package ยป

Clicking on that link will bring up a list of available earlier versions of CiviCRM. Or you can just try this link: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=177914&package_id=205038
