I have made up an email in Japanese script for some of our subscribers, everything working fine: except for the subject, when I changed that to Japanese script the test email comes through as "(no subject)", I guess a part of the storing the subject process is not handling Japanese script or double byte characters.

Can anyone point me to an adjustment I could make please?

This might be the same problem that we fixed in CRM-4631. We should release 3.0 this week, so you can either upgrade or try backporting the fix to your install – you can obtain the patch with
