Event Registration not capturing email address
February 04, 2010, 10:54:14 am
I have replicated the following scenario on the Joomla demo sandbox.

Create an event enabling "Register multiple participants" and "Allow multiple registrations from the same email address". Test drive the form to register 1 participant and enter email, first name, and last name. Check database: contact created with no email address.

Disable ""Allow multiple registrations from the same email address" and test drive the same way again. Email address is captured.

The email address for one (or the first) participant should always be captured regardless of allowing multiple registrations or not. Or I don't understand the logic.

Is this how it should work or can this be fixed? You should see my results in the sandbox yet. Contacts are Tom Test1 and Tom Test2. Event is tws-Free-Meeting.

Thanks,
TimberlineTom

P.S. I'm really impressed with 3.1.1.  Great job!

I am having the same problem on a joomla site running 3.4.8, except it makes no difference if multiple registrations are allowed or not, either way it's not capturing the email addresses of any new contacts (i.e. not existing civi contacts). This is happening with both online and off-line registrations. Any bright ideas most welcome :)

Katy - Seems like a different issue from early posts in this thread. More details might help ...

* Is this new behavior? When did it start? Does it affect > 1 event? How about online contributions?
* You said it's happening for offline registrations too ?? What steps are you / they using for offline registration w/ new contact?
* What profile(s) if any are included for online registration?

... and of course - can they upgrade to latest stable version?

Hi Dave,
My understanding is that it's been happening for a while, if not all along.

I actually posted about this before: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,23529.msg100103.html#msg100103 but to add to that, this is happening with offline registrations as well as online, so it's not an issue with the 'New individual' profile. With offline registrations, From the manage events page I am choosing 'register participants' and entering details here, same thing is happening, contact is saved (with name and any other filled in fields) but not email address. Very weird and frustrating and hard to work out - feels like it could be some funny setting somewhere with the email address fields?

Thanks

Weird.. what happens if you add a new contact just using the New Individual profile? This is the one that pops-up if you're adding a new contact while doing the offline event registration - but you can access it directly using civicrm/profile/create?gid=4&reset=1.

Can you try removing the Email Address field from that profile and then re-adding it.

Sorry for the delay in responding Dave. Wanted to record here, in case it helps anyone in the future, that the issue was the location type default was not set. Not sure how or why it was unset, but resetting it to Main has soled all the issues with email addresses being saved.
