frances:

We have implemented new ajax based activity selector, which will be part of next release. You can check it on http://sandbox.civicrm.org/civicrm/contact/view?reset=1&cid=69&selectedChild=activity

For tracking purpose: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-7791

Quite an interesting topic,

The developer training we just had, one of the participant from progressive technology project is actually working on this feature as well. They are approaching it from the activity tab form and adding a select filter in the form file.

I think combining forces will be a great idea!

Cheers!

Current improvement is for activities listed in Activity tab. You should tell him to check this feature.

Hey,

This is a great improvement.

Xavier & I have been talking about how this would look implemented using the API v3 ajax interface rather than a custom ajax function & we'd really like to work with you guys to convert it for 4.1 as an example /test case

Would that be OK? Can we log an issue to do that?

Hi,

Kurund and Lobo might have guessed through my subtle hints that I'd really really really would like that you start using the api for ajax indeed.

I'd suggest that we spend a couple of hours peer migrating it. I'd focus with K on the jquery side, and lobo would team up with eileen on the php side.

(we played head or tail, lobo got lucky ;)

yes, we can target this for 4.1 since the A-team is willing to play the lead on this :)

Yes, doing ajax via API is something we should do a better job with going forward. This will also help expose more internal code via the API's
