I need this feature as well.  I don't have much in the way of funds to contribute, but could help with testing.

Also, Is there an ETA on this?  If it's not expected in the next few weeks, I'll probably have to seek another solution.

Is this close to being finished? Or infact is there any code? We could probably chip-in another $250 but we really need to have this functionality by Sunday/Monday... long shot I know but it was discussed over a month ago so I'm wondering... :)

Thanks,

Adam

not as far as we know :( there is a proposal to get this done as a community contribution for 3.3, so hopefully we'll get a few folks to contribute and raise the needed funds

however i dont think its going to happen by sun/mon

Thanks Lobo,

I'm talking with Peter by e-mail, as in truth all I need is the code "snippets" to get custom fields into the database from the onbefhalfof section of the contribution page - not sure if they are available or if anything was developed but hopefully someone has an example of doing this, since there is code that gets almost all the way there available in this thread and on the page that stoob put together. If this code is available, then I will be contributing the $250 anyway to the wider project through Peter. I will look into if we can contribute more in the future but currently we just need a simple way to get custom fields in there in the short-term.

See how we get on... :)

Thanks again,

Adam

Just to update,

I've received the code from Peter that he invested in. If I'm understanding it right, to add 4 custom fields to a contribution form requires a module of 180 lines of code and altering 6 or more template files!

I'm still digging through it to see if I can make it work for me, however I have 3 areas of feedback/suggestions/paths to happiness that I am writing down possibly for only my benefit but in my view the membership system should:

- Allow for the use of Profiles in the OnBehalfOf section - all areas of Civi should be extendable and customisable where possible and the lengths to go in order to edit this form are quite amazing.

- Have a system of triggers on different membership settings (for example a change of status) that allows for e-mails (from the Message Templates) to be fired off to the member or arbitary e-mail addresses.

- NOT be reliant on CiviContribute. This adds a lot of extra issues as a site admin/developer. While it should take the benefits of CiviContribute when needed, its reliance makes a free, membership-only site a chore and lots of additional code/options etc for the user.

I realise none of these will happen without funding, just making a note so I know where to start if we get the chance, and to share the ideas... for number 1) if I get this working then we'll have an initial contribution to make that happen but it would be good to get an idea of the budget needed to achieve it, I suspect we're nowhere near it.

Thanks!

Adam
