Changing sort name
August 03, 2010, 02:25:06 am
In my (Dutch) installation I have changed the sort name to be {contact.first_name}{ }{contact.middle_name}{ }{contact.last_name} because we prefer to have people listed by their first names and because the middle name field (in Dutch used for what we call 'tussenvoegsels' are an important distinguishing part of someones name.

This change does not seem to be taking effect immediately.

Every contact that I edit and save gets sorted to the correct position, but all unchanged records stay sorted where they were and alos don't list the added {contact.middle_name} item when listing them.

Is there a procedure for updating the sort name in all records after making a change like this?

You cannot do this without modifying CiviCRM code that builds sort name
