Customisation
August 11, 2010, 04:54:04 am
HI,

I wanted to find out if you do customisation work, and if so, what is the hourly rate.

2 things that a client of mine is looking for are:
1. A calender view for activities.
2. A purchase order system.

Also
When will user rights be available on Joomla?
Is it possible to "deactivate" certain features which a client will not be using - such as the events and contributions?

Thanks

The CiviCRM team does do such work: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/CiviCRM+Consulting+Rate+Sheet but what you are asking for is not a 50 hour job, thus I don't think they will be interested. You can find professional assistance here: http://civicrm.org/professional however.

Your item #1 already exists, but would need to be configured. I am uncertain what precisely you mean by your #2. Ubercart ( http://www.ubercart.org/ ) does have some integration with CiviCRM and this may handle your needs.

I am not a Joomla person but I think this is a Joomla issue, not a CiviCRM one. CiviCRM does have ACL: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC32/Manage+ACL+Roles

Yes, on the "Enable Components" page those components can be deactivated.

Does it ? I recall discussion about a calendar for events, but not for activities. What was it that you have in mind ?

As for customization in general, you can (or your client) do most of the things yourself (eg. enabling or disabling components). Even if you prefer having providers, that's better for both parties that you get a sense of what's easy to customize and what's more complicated. We did try to explain it in the book:

Well Activities can be the data type and the calendar view type exists. The connection between them may not exist, you are right, but I would think it would be a fairly simple job to add that--would be very similar to events. That's what I meant.

I see, thanks.

(we are using more and more activities internally as todo lists, and thought about developing a report, and using some funky jquery module to handle the display, shouldn't be too complicated either and would work on both joomla & drupal).

Any component you're not using can be deactivated - Go to CiviCRM > Administer > Configure > Global Settings > Enable Components
