Postmark Service in CiviMail
August 11, 2010, 10:57:17 am
Has anyone attempted or considered integrating the Postmark (http://postmarkapp.com/) service into CiviMail?

It seems like this service could take care of a lot of the heavy lifting that CiviCRM has to do with the traditional SMTP/bounce processing.

Not aware of this service, but people willing to use service X are more than welcome to develop the interface and share it.

Been done previously with other providers.

maybe treat it as an SMTP server to begin with?

Some folks have developed (and shared) integration w/ Sendgrid which seems like a similar service (and for similar reasons):

It actually looks like Postmark would not work with CiviMail.

From http://support.postmarkapp.com/customer/portal/articles/64735-why-can%E2%80%99t-i-send-bulk-emails-?b_id=494 :

You should have noticed that we do not allow bulk email marketing campaigns to go out through Postmark. We’d like to explain why.

Unless I'm missing something..

Postmark can be used to send transactional emails only. We don't support any kind of bulk mail including newsletters, announcements or any kind of email marketing so this isn't related to unsubscribe links included in messages at all. We are recognized by the ISPs as a transactional sender only and can't allow any other kind of messages to be sent.

Sorry we aren't a good fit for your needs here. Good luck.
