Can you look for a message in your Apache logs?

Appears I'm running out of memory, but my php.ini is set to 256 Mb.

Do you have a large CiviCRM database?

No this is a new site. There are no contacts yet. No traffic. Very little content...

Just for laughs, I upped my PHP memory limit to 512M. Same result on the same line of code.

Not sure what's happening, but if you anyway have no contacts, you could just remove your install and install 3.4.4 fresh. :)

Perhaps could it be related to the D6.22 troubles...

Nope. Tried applying the patch. No banana... :-\

Hershel, will I lose any of my customizations if I do a complete uninstall and then re-install? I know that everything is stored in the db, but how does a complete uninstall affect it?

Yes, you would lose your customizations, that is a problem.

I don't know what the issue is, however. :(

It would appear to be a configuration issue on your server, but I can't know what it is.

Then uninstalling is not an option for me. I have too much time invested in this installation already. Will wait for the next update...

Is there a way to open an issue with the Civi team for this?

Yes, but they read these boards of course (so they see this thread), and since this upgrade works for other folks, we would need full details for your server and database to be able to debug this. Probably a team member will comment on this thread now however.

It would appear to me, anyhow, to be a server issue, not a CiviCRM issue per se.

I found a sort of solution to my problem in topic 20138 http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,20138.

My installation is (or rather was) multilingual with French and English. Reverting to single language fixed the problem.

I think this needs to be submitted as an issue with the development team...
