Relationships only working one way in Export
August 11, 2011, 10:44:29 am
So when I export contributions and I include "Spouse Of" fields in an export field, I only get the spouse data for the record under which I created the relationship.

For example if I have John and Amanda and I go into John's profile and set Amanda as his spouse and then create a contribution for him and then try the following export

Individual - First Name
Individual - Last Name
Contribution - Total Amount
Contribution - Received Date
Spouse Of - Individual - First Name
Spouse Of - Individual - Last Name

Then I get Amanda's name in the export exactly as I want.  Yay.

BUT if I record a contribution for Amanda and try the same export I do NOT get John's.   :(  The Spouse Of columns are just blank.

I've replicated this on the 3.4 demo site.  It does the same thing in my local copy of 4.

Is this a bug?  Am I doing something wrong?

Is there a recommended work around?

Thanks!!

BTW, when I record relationships on my local copy of 4 I get this warning message: Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in CRM_Contact_BAO_Relationship::relatedMemberships() (line 1172 of \htdocs\drupal7\sites\all\modules\civicrm\CRM\Contact\BAO\Relationship.php).  I don't get it on the demo site and they are both behaving the same way, but I figured it couldn't hurt to mention it.

FWIW, this doesn't seem to be limited to Contribute.  I just did a general export for contacts in general with Spouse Of and it only works one way.

I have now filed this as an issue at http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-9347  if you would like to 'watch' the issue for progress.  Lindsey
