Is this not the same bug that causes problems when saving an existing contribution, which produces a "could not find membership record" error:

was a similar issue but a different part of the codebase. i've reopened the issue and we'll fix for 3.4.8

I just used the same workaround (create a new membership type, and add someone to it), and was able to send myself a confirmation receipt.

However, it looks like there's another problem associated with this workflow: it sent me an email about Membership stuff, not just a Contribution receipt like I thought I would get.  The email contained just a table with the following information:

Code: [Select]
Membership Information
Membership Type Dummy membership type
Membership Start Date December 9th, 2011
Membership End Date December 8th, 2012
Membership Fee
Amount $80.00
Date September 6th, 2011 8:43 PM

Is that a consequence of the same bug?  Is it pulling the template from the wrong table maybe?

Wow I just glazed over that mine is doing the same thing. I went in and added some tokens to the membership template and it is pulling directly from that membership template and not the contribution template...
