[solved] Non standard event registration and drupal module webform_civicrm
December 21, 2011, 01:16:47 am
Hello everybody,

I’m stuck in trying to implement a special workflow for event registration.

For a list of events on a page I use the block ‘CiviCRM upcoming events’ (I hope this is the right name, because I have a german installation).
Clicking on one event of the list leads to a presentation of a single event, on which one can click on ‘register now’. This leads to the first page of the registration workflow, a page with selection of event fees, input of email address and payment selection. Just in this stage I’d like to show a form for input of user data (name, address, member number, bank account etc.), because in germany a preferred option for pay later is granting a direct debit mandate by transferring the bank account information in a web form.
There is a very usefull module http://drupal.org/project/webform_civicrm I’d like to use for this job, because it has a lot of advantages (e.g. automatic insertion of contact), but I’m unable to find a way to place it in the standard event registration workflow. It seems that webform_civicrm is a replacement for the standard workflow but not an extension. Maybe I only don’t understand how to use it as an extension.

Does anybody have experiences in using webform_civicrm or in modifying the standard workflow for my purposes? Or does anybody have any other suggestions?

Greetings

Webform is not a replacement for Event registration. Webform is a separate tool.

What you want is to make a Profile for your events. See here http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/Profiles+Admin

Yes, webform cannot be inserted into the civicrm workflow, it's totally separate. It can do most things related to events by itself, but cannot collect payments, at least not in the standard way.
I agree that it has some advantages, but I don't think contact insertion is one of them. The standard event registration forms will do that also.
